UK Boarding Schools for Indian StudentsSpecialist Guidance for Families in India
CRICED helps families in India find the right UK independent and boarding schools for children aged 11–17, matching academic goals with serious cricket opportunities — and a real person guiding you from first call to offer.
Choosing a UK independent or boarding school is a major decision. CRICED helps families in India understand UK boarding school admissions, identify schools that fit their child’s academic ambitions and cricket development, and explore scholarship and bursary options where available.
We do not hand out the same generic list of schools to every family. Each conversation starts with your child — and the shortlist follows from that.
Fees & scholarships
UK Boarding School Fees & Scholarships for Indian Families
Typical annual costs vary by school, but boarding at leading UK independent schools can commonly be £30,000–£50,000+ per year including boarding. Day places cost less, and schools also charge extras such as registration and deposit fees, trips and guardianship.
For families in India, that is broadly ₹32 lakh to ₹53 lakh a year at current exchange rates, plus flights, guardianship and one-off registration and deposit fees. We work through indicative totals in rupees before you shortlist.
Scholarships
Many schools award academic, sport, music or all-rounder scholarships. For cricket, these are usually assessed by video, references and performance records from India. We flag which of your shortlisted schools offer them and what they typically cover.
Entry support
We guide you through registration, UKiset or school entrance assessments, online interviews, offers, acceptance deposits, CAS for the Child Student visa, and setting up a UK-based guardian for boarders under 18.

Boarding Life for a Pupil from India
A weekday in a boarding house
Breakfast in house, lessons through the morning and early afternoon, sport most afternoons, then supervised prep in the evening before free time and lights out. Houses are led by a housemaster or housemistress with a resident tutor team and a matron.
Food and diet
Every boarding school caters for vegetarian pupils as standard, and Jain, halal and allergy requirements are handled by the catering team once declared. Indian food appears regularly on rota at most schools with large international intakes.
Faith and culture
Schools have prayer rooms or quiet spaces, and Diwali, Holi and Eid are commonly marked by international societies. Chapel at Christian foundation schools is usually non-denominational and attendance expectations are explained upfront.
Weekends and exeats
Saturdays usually mean lessons or fixtures, Sundays activities, trips or chapel. Schools set fixed exeat weekends and half-terms when boarders must leave — this is where a UK guardian matters, and we help you arrange one before the visa application.
Staying in touch
The UK is four and a half hours behind India, so early evening in the UK is late night at home. Houses set call windows; most families settle into a fixed video call after prep two or three times a week.
Settling in
Most schools run an international induction, pair new boarders with a buddy, and have a tutor check in weekly. Homesickness in the first half-term is normal and houses are experienced at handling it.

Moving from an Indian School to a UK Independent School
Families in India often ask how CBSE, ICSE or IB results translate into the UK system. The good news is that the pathways are well established — and we help you choose the right entry point.
CBSE, ICSE & IB to GCSEs and A Levels
Class 9–10 in India maps closely to the GCSE years, and Class 11–12 lines up with Sixth Form and A Levels (or the IB Diploma). Most Indian pupils enter UK schools at Year 9 (13+) or Sixth Form (16+).
Year 7 (11+) for prep-style boarding
Year 9 (13+) ahead of GCSEs
Sixth Form (16+) for A Levels or IB
Cricket pathways from India
Players from Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru and Hyderabad regularly move into UK school cricket. The step up is not just about facilities — it is about fitting into a full summer fixture list and often linking to county age-group programmes.

UKiset, entrance exams & interviews
Most senior UK schools use UKiset or their own English and Mathematics assessments. Interviews are held online, so families in India do not need to travel to the UK before an offer is made.

AS"
"
My family spoke to Criced and they were very helpful in navigating a path into the UK school system.
"
